Red Horse

Presented at the 2026 United Nations Chinese New Year Gala, hosted by the UN Chinese Book Club under the theme “Hail the Galloping Globetrotter, Eighty Springs Young.” More than 500 guests, including China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Fu Cong, and senior UN officials, welcomed the Year of the Horse and marked the UN’s 80th anniversary.

Po Zhen Yue

Invited by Hebei Culture and Tourism for its Charming Hebei showcase, the company filmed and performed this original piece in Times Square. It draws on the culture of the ancient Yan and Zhao region: the curling smoke of the Boshan censer, the ridges of the Taihang Mountains and the martial arts of Cangzhou.

Ink

Ink explores the symbolism of ink in Chinese culture, both as a medium of memory and as a shadow of the past. Flowing with the rhythms of remembrance and loss, the piece reflects how past glories fade, yet return in renewed, parallel forms.

Jinwu

Drawn from the Golden Crow of the Shan Hai Jing, the Classic of Mountains and Seas: a three-legged deity that dwells in the heart of a crimson sun. The Golden Crow carries the passage of time, its feathers etched with the stories of endless days and fleeting years.

Heaven and Earth

For the NYU Percussion Ensemble’s concert with the Program in Dance Education, Xinyi Zhang choreographed Pius Cheung’s eight-movement Heaven and Earth, danced to live percussion with guest marimba soloists Eriko Daimo and Pius Cheung. She also created the special solo for Kabeláč’s 8 Invenzioni earlier in the program.

Xinyi Zhang stars as Mulan

August 9–18, 2024Fallsview Theatre, Niagara Falls Convention Centre, Canada

In My Mulan, North America’s first original Chinese fantasy dance drama, Artistic Director Xinyi Zhang headlined a cast of about 100 performers as the heroic Mulan, opposite Canadian dance troupe leader Kealan McLaughlin as the General. Over two weekends, audiences traveled from New York, Buffalo, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto to see the production, which drew support from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati.
